Vandalism

WE HAVE BEEN HIT WITH A RASH OF VANDALISM FROM THE MIDDLE OF OCTOBER TO THE FIRST WEEK OF NOVEMBER. WE ARE TRYING TO PINPOINT THE DATES. PLEASE EMAIL MIKE WALTER WHEN YOU WERE THERE LAST AND HOW EVERYTHING WAS.

Unfortunately vandalism plaques BMX tracks across the nation. Volunteers and Parks Departments work hard providing ABA members and the public a fun and safe recreational area to compete and play. Topeka is no different.

 What does vandalism costs?

Tracks run on very limited budgets and anytime there is vandalism or theft, funds that could go for more improvements to the facility are used for repairs and replacement of items destroyed or stolen.

Heartland BMX, Inc. contracts with the City of Topeka for use of the property it is on. All structures are property of the City of Topeka. Police reports are filed.

What does it hurt if we get a little muddy?

Riding on the track when it is wet or muddy is another type of vandalism. These deep rutted obstacles are the result of bicycles on the track after a rain. It takes hours of raking and hand work to fix the surface in order to make it safe for all riders, especially the younger ones.

If you have any information about any of the vandalism or thefts at Heartland BMX, please contact Crime Stoppers of Topeka.
